Monday Challenge for Scrap for a Cure!

As September's Guest Design Team Member at Scrap for a Cure, I have been asked to pose a Challenge for the community for this week. I thought about this for a bit and decided that it might be interesting to watch people spread their wings and break free from their "typical" scrap and art projects. Why not take a moment to explore something deep inside yourself?

When was the last time that you took a look inside your soul to find a piece of you that was waiting to be free? What was it trying to say? What colors were surrounding it? How did it feel, both texturally and emotionally?

I take this trip inside myself every so often to see where I am in life. I like to explore who I am as an autonomous being seperate and apart from all the labels that are given and cast in life. I search for ME! I surprise myself each and everytime I rediscover who I am, where I have been, what I have done, glimpse at the potential of my future.

My Challenge to you this week is to take a break from the routine and reach inside yourself for that something that is itching to break free. There are no rules to be had here. Just find something about YOU that should be shared, you need to share, have been wanting a reason to share. Take this time for release. Follow what feels right in your soul and create.

Here I took some time to reflect upon my Trigeminal Neuralgia in this LO:
It reads:

May your soul sing to you..

September GDT Scrap for a Cure Blog Hop! Fun time!! :)

Whew! What a title that will be to live up to!

Instead of me getting long winded about things, why don't I just simply say how honored I am to be selected as the Guest Design Team Member for September for Scrap For a Cure.
I am humbled, giddy, elated, bouncy, everything..to have this opportunity to share my work with this great community...the Kit that gives back. Did you know that a part of their proceeds go to an incredible charity every calendar quarter? Right now Make a Wish is the lucky recipient!

So, who would like to see some peeks using this fabulous kit???
Bling swirls, striped PP?
Flowers reaching over bourdeaux curls?
A bright wash of color with doodling?

And laughter all over the place?

Why yes! All of these great things were found by me in the SFAC September kit and then some!! Check back later on for something more than a peek! :)

Have a great day!

Early Morning Inspiration...

I woke up early this morning..like 5:30am. That is way early for this person, but I must have been dreaming about scrapbooking. I had a bunch of ideas swirling in my head and they had nothing to do with what I was working on last night. I created this layout of Elizabeth and our pastor, Rev. Sheldon Smith. He stops by to check on her periodically as they have a special bond after she had Cranioplasty when she was a year old.

I apologize for the quality of the picture, but I was in a rush to get the kids to VBS this morning and to give this LO to Sheldon. He said that he is going to hang it up in his office at the church. I wish I had taken it out of the pastic cover. Oh well..

Hope that you all have a wonderful day!

What I am working on right now..

Hello!

I'm busy working on a few different projects of late. I am altering an oval mirror with Crackle Paint, Glimmer Mists, Grunge Paper, and other fun things. My August MemoryWorks Express kit, Untamed, is here and I'm plotting an Alphabet Animal book for Elizabeth. I am also playing with Basic Grey Lemonade pattern papers and Rub-ons for 4 layouts at once! I've matched up the BG Lemonade with some Core'dinations cardstocks that will be a blast to play with. Core'dinations are starting to become one of my favorites as I can alter them. I'm all for the altering! What did we say at my former LSS? If you are in a foul mood or need to get some stress out, go and alter the tar out of something! :)

So I'm busy like a beaver. On top of all of this I've had both Gavin and Elizabeth home with me for the past few weeks fulltime. Summer break and all that fun stuff!

Gavin celebrates his seventh (?!?!?!!!) birthday on the 31st. He is having his party on the 29th. He is, of course, having a Dinosaur party. Since he absolutely LOVES scrapbooking, he has decided to make his invites this year. We are almost done! (good thing we invited everyone by phone first, huh?) The invites are Orange, shocker I know, and have an embossed T-Rex on the front. So far this has been a learning experience for him. He wanted to learn Heat embossing as he was checking out my tool so I told him he could. Mommy has been the one doing all the work, but telling him and showing him each and every step. He is fascinated by it all. "Mommy!! The sparkly orange powder is all shiny and glittery now! It's stuck to the paper!" Way too cute! Tomorrow will be lessons on Stickles, ribbons, and assembly. I'm hoping to get them in the mail. I said hoping...

I'll post some pictures of everything later on. I will be certain to get a pic of the birthday boy with his invites! He'll be tickled pink, or should I say Orange, to be on my blog again.

Take care,

Fun LO Using the MemoryWorks July Express Kit!

Here is a fun Layout I did of Elizabeth while she was in Germany.
She was bound and determined to eat Alllllll the Ice Cream! I used the MemoryWorks July Express Kit for this. The Travel lines that were in this fabulous kit were simply perfect for this! These kits come stuffed with all sorts of goodies and surprises. I love getting mine every month. They are such a steal and a great treat to arrive from that dashing man in brown!

Some special Layouts I enjoyed creating..

Here are a bunch of LOs that I have enjoyed creating. They each hold a special place in my heart. Some are more simple and were quick to make as they just fell together, while others were labors of love.

Thanks so much for looking!!

Have a wonderful day!

A Basic Grey Toot for me!

Good morning!

I feel honored!

Basic Grey has selected this mini altered album of mine to show in their Gallery! The album is called Super Silly and I made it for my extremely silly little guy, Gavin.

This album is actually made out of recycled drink coasters from a restaurant. They were the perfect size! The paper collection is Basic Grey's Limey Rickey. The colors are fabulous for kids, celebrations, my Gavin, fun times, silly things, I could go on and on. Anyway, I also used their white chocolate chips alphabets, glazed brads, and some tangerine bling. The ribbons are an assortment from Target and vintage ric-rac.

I'm bouncy over this! Yay!

Have a great day!

A Couple Gavin Layouts!

My Gavin...

He's such a sweet boy, but trying sometimes. What else should I expect out of an almost seven year old. I can not believe that he will be celebrating his birthday on the thiry-first of this month! Where has the time gone?

Here a a couple layouts of my special guy. I used one of the great kits from Scrap for a Cure to create them. I did add in a few other papers that I felt complimented the kit. I adore the kits from there! Check them out if you get a chance. I think that is simply wonderful that they also donate a percentage of there proceeds to worthwhile charties.

Boo Boo Giggle Pants! That is Gavin's special name from me. He earned it when he was little and kept getting boo boos all the time. What a silly boy!

Here is my Budding Artist! Gavin loves to create works of art. Here he is with one of his clay creations. I love how proud he is. His love for art is refreshing and something that I certainly foster and support to the fullest.

So there you have it. My big guy in all his glory. Love you Gavin!

Have a wonderful and creative day!
